The system consists of the meta-model and applications. The meta-model enables to define a platform independent business model of the organization. The applications provide the definition and interpretation of the business model. Interpretation of the business model provides functionality of the information system in the selected platform. The lessons learned confirm that the development and maintenance cost of information systems can be significantly reduced by use of the ISTechnology.

Abstract The paper describes the use of business process models for effective managing of information system execution processes and transparent representation of execution statuses. Contrary to traditional approaches where business process models are used only in the initial stages of information system development, the proposed approach suggests direct utilization of business process models during the use of information systems. Information system usability can be improved by using new means of representation, and business process models can serve as an efficient way to visualize execution processes in information systems.

This paper proposes a mapping technique for automatically translating rules expressed in a format based on natural language, i.e. Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR) standard, into production rules that can be executed by a computer (i.e. Rule engine). This work proposes a novel methodology based on the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) standard capable of graphically modeling business rules. A set of new representation patterns allows business analysts to map processes described through BPMN into conditions and actions of business rules.
